At least once every few days, someone in public asks me: “How do you wake up at 2am everyday?”
As a child, my mother made the BEST Chinese broccoli. Unlike most young kids, I ate bunches and bunches of broccoli. In fact, I would rather eat my mom's garlic and oyster sauce broccoli rather than dessert. No joke.
Usually I say it’s because you get used to it. And you do. Not that it becomes any easier for your body, it’s just part of the territory.
Lately, people have been asking how I like working holidays. That’s just part of the business too. We all have worked holidays and weekends and odd hours at some point in our careers. But my answer was something along the lines of this:
“I’ve grateful for all I have, and it’s the least I can do to help.”
It’s true. This year has been extremely rewarding. Being at this point in my career, at my age. To have a supportive group of friends who, happen to be scattered across the country (doing the same thing I’m doing, chasing a dream) but are always there for me. To get engaged to the most caring, generous and genuine man on the planet. (Oh yes, and grateful even for those little stinkers, Georgie the Yorkie and Frankie the Weenie dog!)
My weenie dog is so spoiled. Here he is... I was taking a nap and realized Frankie was sleeping right next to me...on his side...under the covers like a person!!
The least I can do is stick around a couple days and work. Everyone else in my world will still be there after Christmas. Plus, the support from all of you has meant a tremendous amount to me this past year. I probably would have stopped blogging, if it weren’t for all of your support.

This is my latest favorite snack. Goat cheese on the left, and tomatoes in olive oil with caperberries on the right. I don't know if caperberries are the same as capers, but they're delicious.
