According to the Pei Wei folks, today (January 29th) is Vietnamese Lantern Day. To celebrate, the restaurant is offering vouchers TODAY ONLY for a free order of Caramel Chicken. (To be redeemed between February 1st-7th) Here: http://view.email.pfchangs.com/?j=fe5415737363017a701d&m=fef41375736207&ls=fdf516787266067c701d7271&l=fe911572736d057f7c&s=fe2412777260037d761578&jb=ffcf14&ju=fe271576776d057a761679&r=0
Carmel chicken sounds kinda funky to be honest. (My little Asian mommy would say it’s not very authentic Asian cuisine…) But you never know. It could be one of those sweet and savory things like grapes in chicken salad. PLUS it’s FREE, so what’s there to lose!
If anyone tries it out, let me know! I enjoy Pei-Wei for their honey-seared shrimp and brown rice every once in a while. Gosh. I just realized this post looks like a rainbow threw-up on it. I’ll go back to my old color schemes next post. Cheers! Dion
Phew. I’m tired. Ain’t gonna lie. The number one comment I get from news managers is that I’ve got energy…but after anchoring 4:30-9am, drinking three cups of tea and one 5 Hour Energy shot later, and I’m wiped.
What sounds good is curling up with a good book. (Currently, it’s Michael Pollen’s In Defense of Food and Al Roker’s delightfully cheesy murder mystery…)
If you’d like to experience some new reads…check out Read it Forward. An effort by this publisher to get you reading new titles and then to pass them on. http://read-it-forward.crownpublishing.com/
Just by clicking one of the following book covers at the site, you can request a copy of the following:
1. Walking to Gatlinburg by Howard Frank Mosher
2. Secrets of Eden by Chris Bohjalian
3. The Immortal Life Of Henrietta Lacks by Rebecca Skloot
As always, supplies are limited. Thanks to the Adventures In Savings blog. Cheers! Sleepy Dion
So… my work computer got taken away and quarantined today. I joked with my web guru co-worker Isaac that I must have looked at some inappropriate coupons or something, because I kept getting virus warnings. Thankfully the comp has since been fixed.
That and I’ve shot and written stories every day this week, so that’s why I’ve got no deals today…but stay tuned. I’ll make it up to you tomorrow. Cheers, Dion! (PS: I’ll be anchoring 4:30am-9am tomorrow, see you then.)
Alas, I no longer Tweet, only because I started getting a LOT of spam and one viewer showed up to a location I was Tweeting from and wanted to know if I could date him. (Uhm, sorry, I gotta go?)
Anyway– for all you Twitter users, DOVE SOAP is holding a new promotion, where you take a picture of your current soap, reply to them here: http://twitter.com/dove and get yourself a free beauty bar.
Enjoy! Heading out on a story assignment for February ratings. Blog soon, Dion 🙂
PS: Does anyone have a killer puff pastry recipe? Can you email it to me dlim@hearst.com? I’ve been making the same old same old dinner of salmon wrapped in puff. Beef wrapped in puff. Fruits wrapped in puff for dessert. I need some inspiration!
